Inspirations

Finally, I think I'll talk about my top 2 art inspirations on the internet. I usually don't express these to people outside the internet, but I figured it would be a nice ending for this art blog. The following artists inspire me and make me want to keep drawing, to become like them one day. They push me out of my comfort zone and help me try new fields of artwork. Everyday, I work with different coloring styles, line art styles, and most of all anatomy practice. This is a essential part of being an artist in any field of art. One must always try their best and always have patience with what they want to do. Patience is the key to success.

  •        My first inspiration that I have found online happens to be my boyfriend. He keeps me going and tells me to draw every day. I'm extremely happy that I found someone that loves to draw just as much as I do.I've already shown art of his so I don't think I should spam a lot on him.
  •       My second inspiration happens to be an very talented artist that I found on Deviantart.com.I've touched slightly on her art in another post, but I wanted to show more of it. Her username is griffsnuff and her art is beyond amazing. Her style is crisp, perfect, smooth, colorful , and eye-catching. She also draws quickly which is a really good habit to have when drawing digital. I believe she already has an art job creating character designs for a game company. A full on game company. And the best part? She's only 22. Now she is lucky to have such a chance to be able to do this. Here is some of her art of hers. All of the following art is copyright http://griffsnuff.deviantart.com/. It is not mine:

She uses photoshop to draw most of her art, and she only uses one layer. I probably end up using 6-10 layers on a standard art piece so using one is pretty amazing. I wish to draw like her one day and have enough confidence to try even more things with my own style and art.

I do have a lot of inspirations, but It would take me forever to list all of them on this blog. The main things I look for when trying to see what styles to grow from as an artist are:
  • Smooth Lineart
  • Crisp colors that blend together nicely
  • Colorful painted backgrounds
  • They vary in what they draw with different animals, people, realistic, etc.
  • They are consistent with their art style (I don't want someone that draws really well in one and then completely bombs the next one.)
  • Their own ideas. (I want artists that just don't just draw what everyone else does, but varies in their own creations)
When trying to improve on your artwork, it's a really good idea to have several inspirations that all vary in art styles. It helps you realize different types of art that you may incorporate into your own style!

Addicting games

Saturday night. 11:30 pm.  I roll over in my messy unmade bed and stretch fully, looking up at the ceiling. On my belly lays my 3ds, the only thing i've been doing the last couple days. I had gotten the new pokemon game after trading in a bunch of old games, and I couldn't put it down. I was 16 hours into the save file and not even close to beating the game. Sighing loudly, I sit up, pulling the fuzzy blanket over my head. I need to draw. I haven't drawn in ages.

Forcing myself out of my cozy warm bed, I pull on a heavy sweatshirt and slowly walk out of my bedroom. Okay, no one's up. I hate being bothered while drawing. Shutting the door quietly behind me, I sneak on the computer and pull out my tablet.

Wow, i really need some inspiration to draw. Maybe if I look at my friend's artwork it'll help me... I open up my browser and type in DeviantART.com. The first art piece I come to is from my friend, Jess. She had completed two refs for her characters and they looked really nice. I really liked her art style, even if it wasn't the best I've seen. Like all art, It could use some improvement.

Refreshing my messages once more, I come across another art piece from a friend. This was an completely different style and I completely adored it. She had completed an art dump from the last month and a half, putting in a lot of different characters and fandoms from across the internet and television.

I was now inspired. I picked up my tablet pen and scribbled out some doodles. 2:30 AM rolled around and I had drawn a few art pieces that I was proud of. 4 doodles, icon, and an animated pixel said in front of me, lighting up the entire room. Stretching back over my chair, I smiled to myself. I finally got something done. After a week of playing pokemon nonstop, I was finally able to complete something.

And so it begins...

Picking up my slightly worn down jet black tablet pen, I stroke my tablet, looking up at the computer screen. One, two, three perfect lines sketched, turning them into a long fluffy ear of my character. Smiling to myself, I continue on sketching out softly on my tablet pad. The minutes pass by quickly as I sketch the fluffy head, mask, red panda like body, and the fuzzy paws.
Taking a short break, I look at the clock; 20 minutes have gone by.  Sketches tend to take the shortest time for me, since I just let my imagination overrun me. I put my legs up to my chest and lean over in my chair, observing the messy sketch that sits before me. After staring at that long enough, I put my legs down, grab my pen again, and mess with the art program. This time I take precise slower strokes, trying to darken the outline neatly and crisp.
Another half hour later, I stretch back in my cozy blue chair. I was done with the line art, but not even close to be finished with the full art piece. I get up out of my chair and walk over to my sink, grabbing a glass of clear blue water and chug it down. Another half hour at least to finish this art piece.  Sitting back down, I yawn, glancing at the clock. 11:30 PM wasn't that bad for drawing art. Usually I stayed up much later to accomplish anything decent. I needed to finish this art piece before I went to bed or I'd lose inspiration for it. I hate when that happened.
Picking the rainbows of colors, I carefully color between the lines, making it as clean as I could make it. I really liked the idea for this piece. Messing up was not an option. Finally, I shade it lightly, making it pop out, and then I hit save.  Done. All in all, this one drawing took me little over an hour, and I was proud of it. It was mine.

Good art?

Art can be anything. Digital, painting, illustrations, animation, pencil sketches, graffiti, are several different genres of art. It depends on the artist on which path they want to choose when trying to find their self in their art work.

First, I'll show off my boyfriend since he's improved a lot over the last year. I'm so proud of him and he continues to show steady improvement with everything he draws. He's working on a comic containing a fox, raccoon, skunk, rabbit, deer, and other animals. In the future, it will be really famous, so you guys better look at it. I'll probably go into deeper explanation later in this blog if you guys really wanna hear it.

I really adore his art style and I hope he continues on drawing for the rest of his life! His style is very unique compared to other people's styles and he's been drawing for only 2 years. Most other artists that are at this stage of artwork have been practicing for more than 5 years and don't even have their own original characters like he has.It took me a few years to finally find a style I was happy with and that explained who I was as a person, when he's found it in a little under a year and a half.

As I'm writing this right now, I'm watching one of my inspirations draw on a join.me. She uses photoshop and is very talented with it. One day, I wish to be as amazing as this artist and be as creative with designing characters. She has a bunch of characters she's created and I'm so jealous of her creativity and art style. As we speak, there are 140 people in her stream right now watching her draw. Usually when I draw, I can have up to maybe 10 people watching me? I mean, for my art style, I think that's a decent number. I'd like to have more, but I can suffice with 10. She's someone I can really look up to in life with my art, and I hope she never stops drawing.

Other than that, I'll be listing more inspirations later in my blog. I feel they are an important part of drawing for any artist and should be looked at. It helps one improve in anything they want to do.
