So in the last couple weeks, I've been
extremely busy with school and I haven't been able to draw anything on the
computer. Finally, I was able to finish at least something before school
started back up again. I doodled a few poses and after awhile I was able to
create the drawing above. I'm really satisfied with how it came out, but I
still understand there are some errors with line art, pose, and etc.
In
this blog post, I will explain the process I went through to complete this
single art piece. It roughly took me an hour to draw ( With distractions mind
you), but it was extremely simple. I took a different approach to the line
arting style, because everyone has different styles of lining their artwork.
Instead of using black, I used a darker color of the tail stripe for more
design. I wanted to make a fall look intertwined with my art, so I added colors
that symbolized the season.
In
all my art pieces, they have different layers. One is a sketch, one is lineart,
and one is colors/shading. I always sketch my ideas quickly down in a lighter
color to see the poses I can work with for my art piece.
When I finally find a
pose I really like, I make another layer above the sketch one and start tracing
my lines in a darker color. This step requires the most patience in the entire
art piece. You must make the lines clear, smooth, and creative. Although, I
need patience in this step, I rarely have it, so I never finish anything. Sometimes I have people watch my art to give me patience and motivation to
finish things.
Finally,
after the lining is done, I make a layer under the lineart layer and start
coloring in my art. I usually use the wand tool to select the spots I need to
color and then fill them in. After that, I shade and make the piece pop out.
After I'm done with drawing the art piece, I upload it to sites such as tumblr, deviantART, and twitter to show my friends my art. I get feedback from them and learn better art styles for myself. It may seem like a lot of steps, but drawing is always a lot of fun!
